Social elites in the Late Bronze Age

The project will provide to the increase of general knowledge about cultural history and the creation of social elites on the territory of southeastern Central Europe. With the collaboration of both research groups, new formulations of the impact of metal production and trade on the societies of the Late Bronze Age will be introduced. The collaboration will majorly contribute to the introduction of new research technologies, production, and dissemination of knowledge, as well to the promotion of Slovenian and American scientific excellence.
In the framework of the project will be for the interpretation of results of analyses used approaches derived from a modern anthropological theory of material culture and society, this is ideological reproduction. Due to the specific subject of observation – this is sites and finds from the Late Bronze Age, the research will be focused on the culturally contextualized understanding of material culture in which relations between humans (and societies) and items are observed in the perspective of their biographies (production, use, duration, hoarding, deposition and interpretation). The latter will present the grounds for the construction of development and maintenance mechanisms of prehistoric social elites.
